The Fashion Row back up! — show me more! Baby Dior White Diaper Bag July 16th, 2008
[Note, this is a guest blog post from Greta of the Upscale Baby Blog. At her blog Greta reviews quality products for children and mothers.
- Marco]
Although this pristine white diaper bag from Baby Dior wouldn’t survive an hour in my house, there is something hugely attractive about it. Though simple, the bag is clearly luxurious. The gleaming white exterior is set off by a gold tone logo charm. My favorite part of the bag, though, is the changing pad.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a changing pad this luxurious included with a diaper bag. Although I don’t find white to be the most practical colors for a changing mat, I appreciate the added padding and the fold out storage features. I admire any woman who can keep this bag looking clean and new. I just know that I am not that woman.
This Baby Dior Diaper Bag is currently available for pre-order at NeimanMarcus.com for $450. The anticipated ship date at the end of August.

Marc Jacobs Coco Tote July 16th, 2008
I love the smooth, pebbled leather and the glistening little resin studs detailing the front and back of this Marc Jacobs Coco Tote. It’s the antithesis of the typical autumn color palette, but it’s still got a traditionally warm vibe that makes it great to carry as the weather begins to cool down. It may be a bit too early to start thinking about that now,Coach Handbags (http://www.coachoutletcow.com/), but the upcoming season’s collections have me thinking wine, burgundy, chocolate and cream already. This bag stands out in a rich charcoal shade that glistens slightly. The resin chain link strap is enduringly tough, enough to balance all that volume you’re sure to carry. Verdict? Smart, structured, attractive but ultimately not the purse I’m buying to see me through the season. Available for $1450 at eLuxury.

 TOD’S New Tote July 15th, 2008
My, oh my. Isn’t it interesting when the titans go after each other? While all’s fair in love and fashion, I find it odd that TOD’S would come out with this shape for fall. Yes, it’s a classic and lovely tote, but if I wanted a Kelly knockoff, well, I’d get a Kelly knockoff—and you can bet I wouldn’t spend $2165 for the privilege.
I’ve bought TOD’S shoes in the past without scoffing at the price (ok I did scoff silently), but my flats were unique (grey-ish silver), have lasted me for years and look better with age. I have no doubt this bag will, too. I just wish the shape were a little more original.
TOD’S New Took Tote Media in Marrone is available for $2165 at www.eluxury.com.

Erin’s Style Picks: Floral Fashion July 15th,Chanel Bags (http://www.chanelceo.com), 2008
I may not have a green thumb when it comes to gardening, but I know a beautiful bouquet when I see one. Or, you know, wear one. Rosy prints are popping up everywhere this season, giving your wardrobe a sweet garden party flourish. Harkham’s Low Back Painted Rose Dress has an artsy peacock-meets-Monet look, while ASOS’s Floral Prom Dress (which is NOT a prom dress, BTW) has a softer, vintage-flavored effect. The bold green floral print and loose fit of Milly’s Rose Bud Off Shoulder Top screams summer chic. And if you’re going for a bloomin’ purse, it’s got to be Valentino - like this edgy Jardin Rose Framed Duffle.

Diane Kruger and Her Longchamp Clutch July 15th, 2008
Diane Kruger arrived at the Longchamp 60th anniversary party in New York City looking fresh and summery and grasping one of the iconic brand’s sweet clutches in her hand. In a bright coral shade, it stands out against her neutral outfit. I’m not feeling Diane’s straw fedora or whatever that is, but otherwise I think she looks as glamorous and put together as ever. Longchamp is one of those lines I’ve pretty much always ignored, despite being well aware of its existence. It seems they have quite a glamorous lineup in the midst of all those nylon totes, and the brand has rolled out a slew of limited edition pieces in honor of its anniversary. Visit the Longchamp catalog to check them out!

Brian Atwood Mattie Leopard envelope clutch July 15th, 2008
This bag has Samantha Jones written all over it; does it not?! I can totally see Sam rocking this Brian Atwood clutch along with a siren red suit and some killer heels as she trapezes down the NYC sidewalk. Even in the dead of summer, Ms. Jones looked hot,Prada (http://www.pradacart.com), hot, hot, as will this clutch, no matter what the season is. Animal prints seem to be sticking around, so it wouldn’t be a bad time to invest in a handbag that boasts any of them (zebra, leopard, giraffe, etc.). After all, fashion always repeats itself, so you will get good use out of it. This purse works day or night, thanks to its size, and also the extrovert print. Retailing for $1660, the bag is available at saks.com.

 D&G Dolce & Gabbana Lily Satchel July 15th, 2008
Holy Roy G. Biv! Remember that old Sesame Street clip in which they showed how crayons are made? Look at this rainbow-licious Dolce & Gabbana Lily Satchel and tell me that’s not the first thing that pops into your head. Sure, this Italian duo has a way of making unconventional designs look totally irresistible (those multicolored patchwork python purses come to mind), but no amount of fashion Kool-Aid is going to make me want to buy this bag. And it’s not just the Rainbow Brite effect that has me at a loss; the bizarre, oversized shoulder straps are not only unsightly, they’re confusing too (which side is supposed to face out?). Sorry, boys, but I just can’t get behind this awkward construction.
Available for $1,400 at Neiman Marcus.

L.A.M.B. Large Ombre Patent Tote July 14th, 2008
What happens when you take the bright-eyed energy of Gwen Stefani and leave the L.A.M.B. logo behind? Perfection, i.e. this Large Ombre Patent Tote.
Roomy and oh so luxurious, this bag reminds me of those beautiful ombre bags Prada (http://www.pradacart.com) was all about last fall. Same use of patent and subtle brown leather handles, but with warmer tones of pinks and oranges. Only this beauty won’t cost you your next two paychecks. this This bag was originally $595 but is now sitting at a pretty $359 at intermixonline.com.
Yes we all love Gwen but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve come THIS close to buying one of her bags only be turned off by the whole “look at me, I’m a L.A.M.B.!” thing. Nice to see the purse finally taking center stage and not the name.

Foley + Corinna Patches City Tote in Patch Honey July 14th, 2008
Dilemma:
Looking at this Foley + Corinna Patches City Tote too long leaves me very confused. Do I love? Do I hate?
Pros:
Same style as the bag I already have and simply adore. I’ve had my dark brown version for almost three years now and yes ladies, all the rumors are true: It gets better, louis vuitton replica handbags (http://www.bags-replica4u.com), softer and remains timeless with age. I absolutely ADORE Anna Corina handbags because they give off a “Is that a new Bottega/Hermes that I’ve never heard of?” without being as offensively (though some may argue deservedly) expensive.
Cons:
What is that color? Whiskey or Cognac? Aged Scotch, perhaps?
White thread distracts from the whole honey thing going on
Is it just me, or do you also find yourself singing “All I Wanna Do” by Sheryl Crow when you stare at the patchwork?
Final Verdict:
If you’re too young to remember patchwork coats and have a taste for stovepipe jeans without a clue what the Olson twins and Michelle Tanner have in common, you will, as Ben Folds says “Rock this Bitch.” If, however, you still have Maxi dresses from the 90s, step away as this look. It’s not old enough to be vintage quite yet.
Available for $471 at Revolve Clothing

Anya Hindmarch Calf Leather Shoulder Bag July 14th, 2008
Don’t you just love the smell of fresh leather purses in the morning? Our latest newbie is Anya Hindmarch’s Calf Leather Shoulder Bag, now available for pre-order. The Zac Posen-esque black and green color combination is very autumnal, if impractical wardrobe-wise. But what’s with the taupe bridle leather handle? The pale color throws the design off for me; black would have been better. A posh, refined flap opening adorned with gold hardware adds an elegant touch. I’d happily carry this purse for a week or two, but I can’t imagine getting the bang-for-your-buck mileage of say, the Cooper. What do you think? Available for $1,235 at Saks Fifth Avenue.
