 With a goal-less game heading towards a penalty shoot-out at Springfield, up popped Darren Swanson to settle the issue, in the 117th minute, with a brilliant rising shot into a top corner from 22 yards, to finally shatter North’s resistance.
 Trinity bossed the first 30 minutes after the resumption.

 It never came and minutes later Polson was force into an excellent tackle to prevent the lively Dave Le Roux a clear run at goal.
 His spurned opportunity spurned was soon forgotten as Swanson powered home the winner.
 It was tough luck on North as they had kept Trinity at bay with some dogged defending and a string of excellent saves from former Muratti goalkeeper Paul de Garis.
 Trinity had the better of the chances inside 90 minutes but they did not take them.
 Rihoy raced behind Trinity’s defence only to be greeted by goalkeeper Jimmy Styles who cleared the ball some 30 yards from goal.
 ‘I don’t know if it’s the best goal I’ve scored,’ said Swanson, adding: ‘But I’ll settle for it that tonight.
 North were dangerous on the break and we had to be on our toes all the time.

 Trinity substitute Paul Banahan shot just wide when well placed while De Garis performed heroics to thwart Grant, low to his right, and Scott Jones, one-handed to his left to flick the ball over the crossbar.
