Do Girls want a really pricey wedding ring...

A question I would like your opinion on. Guys, do you believe it is expected to go all out and spend a ton of money on an engagement ring to make your girl happy?     
     
 Girls, does the amount spent on the ring actually increase how much love you feel for your man?       
       
I dont have a large amount to spend but the ring I brought home for my love the other day she said was to small so that sucked and now I don't know what to do. So, what's your opinion?
